Last but not least is the fiberglass fly rod, which is the most inexpensive and therefore recommended for first time fishers; this rod will serve the purposes even for those that fish once every couple of months as a pastime hobby.
The main difference between these fly rods is the quality, which will be noticeable if you practice intensely; for example, the bamboo fly rod is believe to take approximately 100 hours of labor to make one, as it needs the right type of cane, cut and preparation in order to make it strong and yet flexible for those times when you caught the fish of your lifetime.
The graphite and fiberglass fly rods perform well especially if you are not practicing every week but are not as high in quality and as durable in the end; however, for a beginner, they make the best possible bet.

Sports stores or specialized gear and equipment stores should carry fly rods of all types; in case you don’t find one locally, try online where you are assured for a wide range of choices and fabulous prices as well. However, try not to go for discounted fly rods, as they almost always will disappoint you in the end.
